It’s that time again…Foodie Pen-Pal reveal day!

For the month of June, I was lucky enough to get paired with Natalie who lives in Napa, CA!

She sent me a great box filled with delicious goodies!

Unfortunately, I wasn’t specific enough in saying why I preferred low sugar or sugar free items, so she sent me lots of sweet stuff. That’s ok though because I practiced self control (well, kinda…) and didn’t eat ALL the sweets she sent me.

Here’s what I got!

Starting from the bottom, she sent two different flavored chocolate sticks from Lindt. I tried a couple bites of the caramel brownie one, and it was ok, but not my favorite. I gave the other one away because they just had too much sugar.

The two ziplock baggies are filled with homemade treats! I hadn’t ever gotten anything homemade in my box so I thought it was so great that she made stuff just for me. Natalie made toasted walnut brownies and lemon bars. I ate 3 of the brownies and half of a lemon bar and I had to call my BFF Megan to come get them before I ate them all. Thanks Meg for that! Of course I would have loved to keep eating the rest of the brownies because they were sooooo good but I had to practice self restraint.

Next, I tried the dark chocolate pomegranates. These were delicious, but also full of sugar. I ate some, gave some to Megan’s fiancé, and then gave the rest to my dad who loves pomegranates.

The Pirates Booty aged white cheddar puffs were my favorite! I easily ate these two bags right when I opened my box. I’m so glad Natalie sent these because I had seen them multiple times at Sprouts, but never tried them. Yum!

The last thing is the Israeli Couscous Mushroom Seasoning from Whole Spice in Napa Valley.

It’s got a recipe on the back to make the couscous using this spice mix.

I don’t really like mushrooms, but I think they give a good flavor, so I’m actually excited to try this and make the recipe since the mushrooms are chopped up and small. I’ll post about it as soon as I make the recipe!

May FPP Reveal Day

I know I’m slacking a little on my posts as of lately. I have some pretty good excuses though… 1.) I have been working some very looooonnnggg days lately. 2.) I live in Oklahoma, and it seems like every single day we have a tornado outbreak. 3.) I’ve just been busy and tired.

Those are pretty good excuses, right? I think so!

Anyways, it’s May Foodie Pen-Pal reveal day!

This month I was paired with Starr Aaron in Kansas City. I requested local products and she definitely delivered.

Here’s what I got!

The first thing I tried was the Real Man bean dip. It was not bad. It was different than the usual bean dip I’m used to, so I think that kinda threw me off. I think I might try using the bean dip in a Mexican casserole or a Mexican layered dip!

The next thing I tried were the chocolates. They were really good! And they were sugar free which I loved. I enjoyed the raspberry soufflé one the most. I’m actually eating one as we speak. 🙂

Since Starr was from Kansas City, I was thinking a BBQ sauce might be in store for me and I was right! This one looks great and only has 5 grams of sugar for 2 tablespoons. It’ll be a perfect addition to a nice piece of grilled chicken. Mmmm mmmm!

I haven’t tried the pasta sauce yet, but pasta sauce never goes to waste at my house. I’m always making spaghetti squash with marinara or lasagna or tortilla “pizzas” so I’m sure I’ll use it soon.

The last thing is a salsa mix packet. I adore salsa. I love it on my eggs, or with chips, or on a salad, etc. This packet is great because you just add tomatoes, either fresh or canned. How simple is that?

Well, that’s all for this months edition of FPP! Thanks Starr for a great box!

April Foodie Pen-Pal Reveal

This month, I was lucky enough to get paired with Stephanie in Sonoma County, California. She filled my box with lots of local items (per my request) and she really did a great job picking out a nice variety!

Unfortunately, I’m a bad blogger sometimes and I didn’t think about getting a picture of everything until it was already opened or eaten.

I do have one picture for you though!

First, I’ll tell you everything I received in my box!

April FPP Box

1 peanut butter filled chocolate
Pure Empower Mint Tea

(**Everything isn’t pictured**)

The peanut butter filled chocolate got eaten right away. As in, I opened the box while driving in the car (I was a passenger, I promise!) and devoured the chocolate. It was tasty!

The sweet potato chips were next. Pop-chips don’t last long at my house, they’re just so good.

I opened the popcorn next. I was super excited about the popcorn. It was called Hippie Dust and the flavoring on it was nutritional yeast. I’ve seen the nutritional yeast used in vegan recipes before. I’m pretty sure they used it to give it a cheese-like flavor. I thought the popcorn tasted earthy and almost like a powdered mushroom flavor. I absolutely loved it, obviously. 🙂

I haven’t tried the tea yet, but I’m sure I’ll enjoy it. Mint tea is one of my favorites, but it just hasn’t been cold enough for tea right now.

The hot sauce was a great addition to my lunch quesadillas I’ve been making for lunch all week. I’ll have to blog about my quesadillas soon and tell you all about them!

I brought the coffee over to my dads because even though I drink coffee, I only drink it out and I don’t have a coffee maker. But that’s ok because my dad and step-mom love coffee so I was more than happy to share! We thought the coffee was great. It had a nice strong flavor. Yum!

I also brought the salami over to my dads to taste. We all loved it. It had a nice sorta wine flavor to it, and it’d be great with some cheese and crackers for a snack.

I am excited to use the Amy’s coupons for free soup. Stephanie, my FPP, works for Amy’s so I thought that was really cool that she sent me some coupons. I went to our new Spouts grocery store over the weekend and saw that they had quite a few different Amy’s soups there, so I’ll be bringing my coupons there for sure!

Thanks Stephanie for my amazing box!
